A method to the madness

We all harbor some kind of fetish.

Regardless of whatever your fetish may be, it is something that unexplainably ignites our inner mojo and can even get us a little hot and bothered at times.

Some fetishes involve whips and chains. Others, involve gizmos and gadgets. If your fetish is anywhere remotely close to the latter, then keep on reading, you flithy animal you.

My interest in technology developed as an acquired taste over the years. Like the inaugural sip from your first can of beer, I used to cringe when my brothers would speak the jargon associated with the specs of their new gadgets and toys (mainly video game consoles).

My brothers, who owned at least one of every console ever made, would rant on and on about how the graphics on their new 16-bit Super Nintendo were so amazingly ground-beaking. In an effort to be a good sister, I pretended to listen as I finger-mashed my way to victory as Chun-Li. In reality, I could not care less. However, as the years progressed and the scope of their rants amplified with every release of a new console, I was slowly and unconsciously sucked in. (Not to mention, I have also learned to hold my own on Marvel VS CapcomGo ahead, challenge me. I dare you.)

My brothers’ influence, coupled with the fact that my best friend (who I’ve lived with for a bit in San Francisco) is a computer engineer, has slowly shaped me into the closet nerd that I never thought that I would be. Specifically, I’m completely enamored when technology is interwoven with aspects of design and fashion. Steve Jobs flawlessly achieved this. And I’m not going to lie, I get a little randy thinking about it.

WAIT, BACK IT UP… SOME ONE, WHO’S INTO CLOTHES, SHOES, AND MAKEUP, ALSO LIKES TECH? YEA RIGHT. THE DAY THAT HAPPENS IS THE DAY THE WORLD IS PLAGUED BY A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!

Well, guess what, my friends… The apocalypse has inevitably arrived. Don’t believe me? Just check out the latest headline about the infamous “Miami Zombie” on CNN.com!

To make better sense of my rationale behind this blog, let me explain how the idea of this blog was birthed. When I interned at an “in-the-cloud software provider” company, I was forced to compile a news feed of tech-related websites. Fortunately, I have developed a liking towards them and still follow them to this day. As I was catching up on tech trends, developments, and startups, I took a mental break to visit another website that has also grown on me, the Chive. A completely polar-opposite website, the Chive features hilarious photos, videos, and well…pictures of hot girls.

And then the light bulb turned on. Why not combine the two? Technology and hot girls???? #WINNING

What this blog aims to do is put a little bit of spice into the impotent world of technology. Of course, I’m not a tech know-it-all. You won’t find any of the nitty gritty, technical stuff here. Instead, what you’ll find is the junction where technology, design, and lifestyle meet — all in layman’s terms. We hope to make this an “erotech” (Get it? Like ‘erotic’ but ‘ero-tech’? Harhar. I’m corny; deal with it) experience for techies and non-techies alike.

However, I can’t do this alone. Bringing sexy back to tech is an impossible feat for one person. So this, right here, is my plea to YOU for help…

Come back often. Contribute often. And always remember to…

Keep Calm, Tech On.
